Changing the league buy-in to create a contingency fund - blurred - 01-31-2024

The TL;DR – There is no greater detail to this, simply a proposal that the league alters its buy-in for 2025 onwards from $60 to $62.

The intention is that the payout structure will remain the same, based on the $60 entry fee, and that these extra funds in the pot will allow for us to have a small ‘contingency fund’ to apply discounts to buy-ins in the case where an orphaned team is left in such a poor state, or in the case where Fantrax raises its prices for the premium options on which our league relies.

Commissioners can and will still apply premiums when recruiting GMs for orphaned teams that are in a strong position, and these premiums will help supplement the contingency fund.

Questions/discussion can follow below.

In the event where the above described scenarios happen to not come in play, what is to happen with these funds? I only ask for transparency because I ran into an issue with this last season, which I was asked to pay a premium to enter the league which I was ok with and asked to forfeit a portion of my 2nd place winnings last season. To this day I don't know where that money I put into the league went?

That'd be up to the league to decide, but for argument's sake if we had a really good few years and got up above $300 then we could rebate $10 to each member of the league, for instance, or knock it off an entry fee.

I believe in the past it has gone to the Fantrax Premium fee, effectively bumping up the prize pool

That makes total sense.  My issue is just the transparency.  I had to buy the Dodgers for $90 (previous owner already had his entry fee paid) and I was asked to forfeit like around $60 of my winnings last year.  I didn't see our prize pool increase.  Our fees did not go down this season.  Where did the $150 go?

If someone is trading draft picks or cap beyond the current year, I would say that they should pay up for those seasons before they do so. That would go pretty far to creating a contingency fund and not have everyone shoulder the burden of that.

The vote is passed - the new charge will be instituted from next season.
