This will be a good example for the league to see...

Trent's re-sign is $1.2m and the max term for that amount would be one year. Players are automatically UFA after one year deals. So you have two options...

1 - Sign Trent for 1yr, $1.2m and he hits the market the following season with no option to extend.
2 - Increase salary to 2y, $2.5m which would then allow you to extend him in the future.

Let me know which you prefer. Just thought I would make sure everyone fully understood the option in this scenario.
