Confirm. Would not have done this deal without the cash exchanges. I have no top 100 prospects, so in just about all of my recent trades, I have been getting younger players. In this trade, Bryant is 2 years younger. If Rendon has another year like last year in the next 2 years, his extension at age 32 would be $30m/yr. In contrast, Bryant has one additional year on his contract and would be extended after his age 30 season.
If Rendon keeps hitting like he has, I will lose this deal for the next 2 years, but I think that it has a good chance of evening out long term. Bryant did have 530 AB and a .900 OPS last year, so hoping he can stay healthy and he can play two positions. Pat usually constructs very thought-provoking and fair deals and I hope this deal works out well for him. |
