Trading away DJ hurts, but we probably were not going to be able to resign�him for 2023 and beyond. Trading for Alex Wood opened up the opportunity to move on from Charlie Morton. We are picking up youth to try and help us compete better in the�future. Hopefully Marsh and Pearson can live up to their potential.

Cubs trying to make the jump to playoff contender by moving some promising youngsters who haven’t lived up to expectations.

Take the gamble that Morton doesn’t retire after the year and add a solid bat that can play all over the infield.
