COL-TOR Trade - SoonerorLitigator - 02-11-2022 Rockies send: Walker Buehler $7.1/7.1/10.6/14.1/14.1 $4M paid in 2022 and 2023 only Toronto sends:� Dalton Varsho PC-2024 Ryan Mountcastle PC-2024 Jorge Polanco $4M(2023) Juan Yepez PC n/a Rockies move Buehler to strengthen 3 positions with young controllable talent at 3 positions of need. Rockies have a relatively deep pitching staff so we can sustain the loss of one of the elite pitchers in the game. Varsho provides a Top 100 talent with success at the big league level already with C eligibility so a big position of need. Mountcastle is a 30 HR bat at 1B/OF. Polanco is one of the top MI in the game right now coming off a 33 HR year with MI eligibility at both positions. Then we add a prospect we are really high on in Yepez and think with the universal DH he will provide some depth as soon as this year.� Hard to give up a top 5 pitcher, but my team lost weeks last year when the offense would be inconsistent. Buehler has been a favorite of mine for a long time and as he enters his age 27 season I'm hoping he can keep getting better (though metrics do show he outperformed a bit last year). I'm concerned that his FB was down a little last year, but he still has the stuff to be elite. I've got depth at each of these positions (well, except C) and felt like I could find a decent replacement for each. Last year my team ranked among the top in hitting but struggled on the pitching side, so this deal makes sense for me. Thank you to the Rocks for reaching out and getting this done with me.
