Kansas City - Boston - SandlotLinC25 - 07-20-2021

Here we go.

Royals trade:
SS Adalberto Mondesi 4 6.5 7.4 7.4 8.3
OF Akil Baddoo PC N/a
P Kyle Mueller PC N/a
C Alejandro Kirk PC N/a
OF Stephen Piscotty 3 3 4

We pay all salaries for this year.

Red Sox Trade:
OF Ronald Acuna JR 600K 17 x 5

A big one. Obviously, if Acuna was healthy the Red Sox would likely never do this deal. However, with his unfortunate injury, we made this deal that helps them tremoundesly both now and in the future with some blue chip young pieces + a potential stud SS who can single-handily win SB's in Mondesi. Acuna is the type of superstar to build around, and we can only hope he comes back the same player he was before the injury. Appreciate Andy as always for his fun negotiations, and look forward to competing with him in the playoffs!

Red Sox agree

Never thought I'll be moving Acuna.
But with him being out for the season and with so many injuries.
I think having Mondesi, Baddoo and Kirk will give me just as good of a chance to be a competitive team for the next handful of years.

Thank you Lincoln for the agonizing talks for having to trade Acuna Smile

approve

Veto.

I don't like being the bad guy and wanted some time to think about this and canvass opinion from outside the league.

My conclusion is that the trade block is pretty much mandatory for players like Acuna unless you're getting a great deal which isn't the case here.

I think the value is very poor personally, but as always the way to find out what the market will bear is to let people know that a player is potentially available.

With Mondesi injured the 'tremendous help now' comes in the form of Baddoo and Muller which doesn't seem worth eschewing the time to explore other options to me.

As well as not being a good trade for Boston in my opinion i also think it's bad for the league in general when a top 5 dynasty player is dealt with arguably no top 100 players in this format coming back.

I've got nothing against people putting work in to make deals, but with players on the level of Acuna i do think there's a collective drain on league enjoyment (and hence rise in apathy) when GMs feel they never got the chance to make a pitch for a superstar because there was no reasonable way to know he would be traded.

RE: Kansas City - Boston - Branum #20 - 07-23-2021

I can agree with some point Ace is making, but not enough to veto. Both owners are good, reliable owners and therefor should be trusted on their own values.

Approve

RE: Kansas City - Boston - fantasysportsdc - 07-23-2021

I have to veto this not on the lack of a trade block but simply on the player value being returned. Healthy or not this season, Acuna commands a much higher return.

Veto, sorry guys

RE: Kansas City - Boston - SoonerorLitigator - 07-23-2021

Branum has convinced me. I respect these two owners too much. I wouldn't do it, but I vote to approve.

RE: Kansas City - Boston - JMAC - 07-24-2021

If the trade block is semi mandatory for elite guys then this needs to be vetoed. Acuna warrants more than this return as a top 3 dynasty player and if Mondesi is the big get nowhere near enough as he can't stay on the field. Baddoo was a rule 5 for for reason as well.
The haul could be substantially more IMO.
I agree with Ace on this one. Sorry
