Amateur Draft - Ace - 07-01-2020
To be held in the offseason for players who were eligible for that year's MLB draft and signed with a team. Those players can therefore not be signed as free agents until after our draft has taken place. All drafted players will be placed on prospect contracts.
Future picks may be traded one year in advance, meaning 2024 draft picks can be traded when trading opens after the 2023 season. During the draft you may not trade selections in the next 15 picks (in order to prevent delays, as all trades must be voted on) but can pick a player and send him immediately to another team.
The draft will be five rounds with the order being based on the standings from the previous season (reverse of finishing positions) with the first three picks of the first round being subject to a lottery.
Any teams that don't win money in the previous season (most improved prize excluded) will be allocated 'ping pong balls' as follows: 20, 20, 17, 14, 11, 8, 5, 5 (20 for team in 15th). If two teams are tied then a coin flip decides who picks first in round one (and receives the extra lottery ball if applicable) with selections alternating thereafter.
There will be 2 compensatory selections (one at end of the first round and one at the end of the second round) allocated via the draft race (see payouts thread). Additionally the 3 teams at the bottom of the final standings will each receive an additional pick at the end of the third round.
The pick clock will be 24 hours for the first round and 12 hours for rounds two through five.
Teams may request to go on auto-draft and be awarded the best remaining player by draft bonus. Teams that time out in rounds one or two will be skipped for 10 selections before being placed on auto-draft.
