Rosters - Ace - 06-27-2020

Salary Cap

Each team can spend a maximum of $125m per season between salaries, signing bonuses, cash exchanges and cap hits for released/bought out players.

Any transaction that would put a team over the salary cap in any season (current or future) will be deemed invalid.

The only exception to this is between the beginning of the offseason and opening day when non-guaranteed arbitration salaries may result in a team being above the cap. In order to retain these players teams must create the requisite cap space before the season begins.

Roster Settings

Roster Size: 30 man MLB, 35 man Minor League, 5 man IL
Starting Positions: C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CF, 2 OF, UT, SP, RP, 7 P

Teams are expected to field their strongest healthy lineup at all times. Failure to do so will see the commissioner set a lineup, with long term inactivity or deliberate circumvention both being grounds for removal from the league.

To be placed on the IL a player must be on the MLB 15 or 60 day injured list or the MLB suspension list. An owner can request an IL exemption preseason for any player who has been confirmed to be out for opening day.

Minors Eligibility

Hitters must have no more than 400 AB'S.

Pitchers must have no more than 100 IP.

A player that is over these limits is not eligible unless they have been demoted to the minors in real life or are not currently signed with a team (note that their salary will still count unless they are on a prospect contract). Ineligible players must be promoted to the MLB roster, traded or released.

Positional Eligibility

To qualify at a certain position a player must have played 10 games at the position in either the prior or current season to qualify (minimum of 1 inning average per appearance). Any player not qualifying at a position will maintain his fantrax default position; if this is UT then the commissioner will add a position so long as the player has played the field for at least 10 career games (C, SS and CF require 10 appearances in the previous season between the minors and majors). Players erroneously credited with C eligibility by fantrax will have this removed.

Pitchers must start/relieve 10 games in the previous season or 5 games in the current season to have SP/RP eligibility added to their fantrax default.

Minor league games for both hitters and pitchers will count towards these eligibility limits if an owner makes this request to the commissioner.

Teams can also add one extra eligibility (total) per season under the following circumstances:

2B or 3B can be added to a player who is currently eligible only at SS

1B can be added to a player who is currently eligible only at 3B

This must be done before the first game of MLB spring training (Feb 22nd in 2024) and that player's eligibility then becomes locked for the season. If traded before the May extension deadline then the added eligibility is lost and normal rules once again apply for that player. The added eligibility will expire at the end of the season and the player will revert to the normal rules.
