KC / Pit trade (trading not open) - alanv25 - 12-13-2020

KC trades to Pit:

Joc Pederson 4.0 x 3
Steven Matz 4.0 x 3
Jaime Barria 600k x 1

Pit trades to KC:

Nate Lowe 600k x 2
Kyle Schwarber 4.0 x 2, 6.3 in 2023

My motivation for this trade is to pick up starting pitching, where I'm weak.  Mets rotation options are thin and even though Matz had a subpar shortened 2020 season, he should be in the rotation and I'm hoping he'll bounce back.  Barria had a strong 2020 and hoping he will crack the Angels rotation at the start of the season, and if not, later in the season.  This will make me not as desperate to spend big bucks on free agent pitching.

I hate to give up Nate Lowe now that he's been traded to Texas and it has been stated that he will be their starting first baseman, but I have to give up something.  We both value Schwarber slightly ahead of Pederson and believe including these two makes the deal fair.

You probably didn't think KC would be quiet for much longer, did you?

KC to confirm.

KC confirm.

Fun trade involving players we both like and would hope to have bounce back seasons next year. Barria we have had a shared affection for a while, and he will look to build on his solid 2020 bounceback campaign. I enjoy getting Lowe and Schwarber for the upside and hopefully production that can offset losing a few solid pitchers.

Thanks for the talks as always Alan, appreciate you.
