Mariners send:
OF Brenton Doyle pc-na

With Casas having a terrific rookie season for me at 1B I saw Mountcastle more as a surplus-asset going into this season. One of my goals this off season was to improve the SB category for the Red Sox. Doyle struggled his rookie yr was able to steal 20 bags last yr with around 400 ABs and a bad .250 OBP. I believe with a full compliment of season ABs and at least a .350 OBP Doyle can easily get 40. So ultimately swapping power for speed here.
Mason Black could arguably be the best pitching prospect for a lot of organizations as he is behind Harrison and Whisenhunt with the Giants. Love improving my minors depth here.

Mariners agree. We've coveted Mountcastle for a while and have been trying to get him. While we will miss doyle, we have a lot of young OFers with upside so also dealing from a place of security to get a guy we want. Thanks to Boston as always for the talks.
