FA Preview/Discussion - Scalious - 02-11-2023

Disclaimer. Including everyone at least 10% Owned

Elite SP:
Justin Verlander 39 #1 Pitcher (22)
Max Scherzer 38  #1 Pitcher (21)
Clayton Kershaw 34  #25 Pitcher (22)

These are some high risk/high reward investments. Verlander is the oldest, but he also looks like the best. Kershaw is much younger, but 2019 is the last time he managed pitched 130 innings. Clearly for people who want win a championship now. As they can still be major impact players.

Elite Hitters:
2B Jose Altuve 32  #9 Hitter (22)

Altuve is the clear no 1 FA of this class. Highly productive at a scarce position and less risky investment then the SPs. Frame wise, small MIs can still hold a big risk of quick decline.

PC Eligible that will get a big MLB deal
SP Luis Ortiz 23
SP Kodai Senga 30
OF Masataka Yoshida 29

This league will PAY up the butt for the mystery box IFA. Even though they end up being flops most of the time. Luis Ortiz is a special case as a domestic prospect. So he's not as unknown as the IFAs and much younger.

Not much options here.
Less than 20 interesting names on this list

A lot of work.

Thanks for posting

RE: FA Preview/Discussion - blurred - 02-11-2023

Nice work.

Was looking at the sheet the other day and noticed the disparity in cap space between the NL and the AL. There's a ton more money available in the NL - 8 of the 10 biggest FA budgets are in the NL, and only 3 AL teams have above-average cap space.

I had five of those non elite SP's and couple IF's

Easy to overspend.
