MIA/PIT Trade - Sloc125 - 08-02-2022

MIAMI TRADES

1B Hunter Dozier ARB ($4M) ($2M paid in 22)

PITTSBURGH TRADES

SP Eric Lauer ($4M, $4M, $4.3M, $4.6, $4.6)

Miami makes this trade to get a long term pitcher on a good contract. Dozier was not in my long term plans so this is a great move for me right now.

Easy talks with the Bucs.

RE: MIA/PIT Trade - alanv25 - 08-02-2022

Confirm. With Bryant going back on the IL, I was put in a corner. It looked to me like the best possible option without trading the kitchen sink was Dozier (who qualifies at 3B), who has a decent season going and more importantly for me at this point, has over 300 AB, so expecting him to be in the lineup nearly every day. But being slightly desperate, needed to give up something to get something, so offered Lauer, who is putting together a fine season with the Brewers. However, I was able to pick up Sampson, who has similar stats to Lauer and I think he will continue to do this well. I also have a little depth at SP, which made Lauer available to swing this deal. Also picked up $2M to help with making another trade or picking up a free agent.

Likewise, easy talks with Miami and wish him the best.
