This seems like a salary dump, but IMO If PIT advertised Springer was OTB, could have gotten a more premium pc contract than Cease and a fill in OF. However, given the limited number of teams that actually respond to trade offers/inquiries in DSH or groupme, the available market was probably limited. Other owners may look at this deal and try and use it as potentially setting the market for a player like Springer, this one is probably an anomaly.
