Rookie Draft |

Draft:
We will hold the rookie draft each year after the NBA Draft. It will be 2 rounds as usual. Teams may trade their draft picks for other draft picks or players.
To find rookie salaries, we will use cba faqs rookie salary scale. All 1st round picks will be placed on 2 year deals + 2 team options + RFA after the team options. 2nd rounds pick can be placed on 1, 2, or 3 year deals at the $0.8m if placed on the NBA roster. Any pick can be placed on the D-League roster but 1st round picks will still count against your cap if placed in the D-league.
Draft Order
In order to curb tanking we are going to mirror the NBA lottery. Thus if you have the worst recordin LOR2 and the Wizards have the NBA's worst record, then you will pick where that pick falls after the NBA lottery is drawn. (ie Wizards end up picking 3rd in this scenario, then so would you)

Injured Reserve is available for use during the regular season. You will be able to add players to IR on the first day of the NBA Season. All players will need to come off IR at the culmination of the NBA Finals. Thus you cannot stash a player on IR during the offseason.

Extensions |

Extensions:
Can only be given in the final year of a player's contract. Salary is based on player's overall ranking from the last two seasons (current and 1 yr previous) and is subject to maximum years and bonus guidelines, as follows. Before February 1st, extensions are previous 2 seasons. After February 1st, extensions use the current season and the previous season. A player may not sign an extension for less than half of their current contract. RFA Deadline is December 15th, every year When resigning a RFA before the deadline you must multiply his contract by 1.2
Rank
1-5 = $25.0m
6-10 = 24m
11-15 = 23m
16-20 = 22m
21-25 = 21m
26-30 = 20m
31-35 = 19m
36-40 = 18m
41-45 = 17m
46-50 = 16m
51-55 = 15m
56-60 = 14m
61-65 = 13m
66-70 = 12m
71-75 = 11m
76-80 = 10m
81-85 = 9m
86-90 = 8m
91-100 = 7m
101-110 = 6m
111-120 = 5m
121-130 = 4m
131-140 = 3.5m
141-150 = 3m
151-175 = 2.5m
176-200 = 2m
201-225 = 1.5m
226-250 = 1.1m
The Players Extension Value will be the highest value of these three options:
A - 2 Year Average (Ex: Player A finished 90th and 130th for values of 8m and 4m. The average would be 6m)
B - Highest Year * 0.85 (Ex: Player A finished 90th as high year for a value of 8m. Multiply 8m * 0.85 = 6.8m... RFA's will still be highest year * 1.2)
C - 66% Rule (Ex: Player A had an expiring salary of $14m so the lowest his new contract could be = 9.2m)
In this example, Option C has the highest value thus the player's new contract would be for $9.2m per yr)

Releasing Players |

Releasing Players:
-Any player dropped before the trade deadline will still have part of their contract count against the cap in the following manner: Current year 90%, Next Year 60%, All future years after are 30%
-If a player is dropped after the trade deadline, then the hit changes to 75%, 50%, 25% respectively.
-Any player with a $1m or lower salary can be released with no cap hit.
-Cap hits are rounded to the nearest $0.1mil
-You may not bid on a player that you have released for a period of 30 days. If you resign a player, their original contract is restored.
**Once the playoffs start, you can not pay extra in that season to get the player's penalty off the books faster. Ex. if you have a player under a $4m salary for 2 years, you can not pay the entire $4m penalty in that season once the playoffs start. This is done to prevent an owner from circumventing the system to gain extra cap space by paying extra salary in a year that have closed transactions already.
Just to clear this up. Any player making $1.0m or less can be cut without penalty.
That is the ONLY time you won't incur a release penalty. There are no exceptions for retirement, g-league, death, AIDS etc.

Free Agency Rules |

- Please post the Position, Player and Team name in the title of the thread when creating one. (Example - SF OF Barry Bonds)
- Your bid will be the TOTAL CONTRACT VALUE.
(Example - 50m bid is a total value of 50m.) This would mean you can offer 5 years at $10.0m per year, 4 years at $12.5m, 3 at 16.7, etc...)
- Based on the total value, you can assign them a contract length based on the table at the bottom of this page.
The winning bid must stand for 48 hours and then will be considered won.
- Any player with LESS THAN rookie limits (130 at bats/50 innings pitched) is eligible for a prospect contract, regardless if they're going on MLB or minors roster.
If you're bidding on rookie OF John Doe you can simply bid PC (prospect contract). This means they get a standard rookie contract of $500k that goes 3 years AFTER the year they surpass rookie limits.
These players can also be bid on with a one time signing bonus (Example- I bid PC + 3 million for John Doe). This is a prospect contract with a $3 million bonus that applies only to the current season's salary cap. The total value of this bid is $3.5m (3m bonus plus $0.5m for the current yr contract). You're also able to give a full MLB deal if you so desire, though players on prospect contracts are able to be released at no cap penalty.
- ANY BIDS THAT PUT YOU OVER THE CAP ARE INVALID and will be deleted by a moderator.
Any editing of bids is completely prohibited and and bid with an edit on it is invalid. No exceptions.
Contract Limits (after initial startup values)
Total Salary - Maximum Years
$3.2m or less, 2 years
$3.3m to $19.9m, 3 years
$20m to $49.9m, 4 years
$50m+, 5 years (the overall limit)
What does this mean?
In order to give a player a 4 year deal, it must have a minimum total value of 20m, or 5m per year average.
5 year deal must be a total of 50 million, or average of $10 million annually.
Once the player is won, the thread will be stickied to the top and the winning team will have 48 hours to post their desired contract.
Failure to post the contract within 48 hours results in player being re-released into FA and cap hits being applied to the team as if they were dropping the player.
